Production Notes
Pre-production
Two practical versions of the boat were built by production for the film. A functional, sea-worthy boat was acquired by Daniel F. Malone and Charlie Galea in Malta. Originally a double-mastered 1948 yawl designed by Sparkman & Stephens—a Florida-based naval architecture firm still active today—the 47-foot-long vessel features a teak deck. The entire rear mast and sail were removed to accommodate the camera crew, effectively converting the boat from a yawl to a sloop.
